Pierogies, empanadas, samosas… just about every part of the world has its own version, but here in Louisiana, they’re known as meat pies. Meat pies are an underrated but iconic part of Louisiana cuisine, and no one makes a better meat pie than Lasyone’s in Louisiana and for good reason – they basically put meat pies on the map! Gas up the car, because today we are headed to Natchitoches to check out Lasyone’s, a charming little restaurant with some of the best meat pies in the state.
There are a lot of reasons to love Natchitoches, and Lasyone’s is one of them.
Nestled in the heart of Natchitoches’ Historic District, Lasyone’s opened its doors in 1967 and quickly earned the approval of locals looking for a good meal without putting a dent in their wallet.
The charming little eatery is a no-frills, all-flavor type of joint.
If you’ve never had one of these Cajun specialties, you’re in for a real treat.

James Lasyone began working on his meat pie recipe in the 1950s. After a few years, word quickly spread about how delicious these little meat pies were.
These little handheld pockets of deliciousness are filled with a crawfish stuffing that will make you fall in love at first bite.
While the meat pies are certainly big enough to make a meal of their own, you don’t want to pass up the opportunity to try the many different Cajun items on the menu.
