Grab a group of friends and head over to Lake Charles, where you can climb aboard the USS Orleck and play a few games of laser tag on an actual naval ship! That’s right – this unique attraction is not only great for kid’s birthday parties, but also a place where adults can get in on the fun too. Let’s check it out.
The USS Orleck DD-886 is one of the most decorated US Navy ships since WWII, and it’s docked right in Lake Charles.
Built in 1945, the USS Orleck was launched into the Sabine River that same year and served in both Korea and Vietnam before being decommissioned in 1982 and transferred to the Turkish Navy.
The Turkish government donated the ship to the Southeast Texas War Memorial & Heritage Foundation in 1999, where it served as a museum ship in Orange, Texas for a number of years.
In 2010, she was towed from Orange, Texas to Lake Charles where she continues to serve as a museum ship. During your tour, you’ll learn all about the history of this National Treasure and the many battles she has been in.
They have several different taser tag packages, depending on how big your group is and if you’d like any special effects like laser beams, strobe lights, or even black lights.
Please remember that all participants must wear closed-toe, non-skid shoes while on the ship (even if you are just taking the tour and not playing laser tag).
Address: 604 North Enterprise Boulevard, Lake Charles, LA, 70601
