It’s the perfect time of year to get outside and do some exploring. There are dozens of trails that will take you on a journey through our beautiful natural landscapes. From swamp trails to primitive forest trails, there’s a trail for everyone, but have you ever thought about renting a kayak and seeing the swamps from an entirely different perspective? Kayaking is a fun and unique way to spend an afternoon, and practically anyone can do it. Lake Martin is an ideal spot to do some kayaking, and you can rent a kayak nearby and see one of the most picturesque lakes in Louisiana at your own pace. Sounds great, right? Let’s check it out.
Lake Martin is a wildlife preserve right in the heart of Cajun Country, just on the outskirts of Breaux Bridge.
These swamp boat tours will take you all around the lake and surrounding areas. You’ll learn a lot about the area from the knowledgeable guides, all from the comfort of their swamp boat.
For the more adventurous souls, Champagne’s also offers kayak rentals.
While you’ll have ample opportunities to see gators, turtles, and snakes, Lake Martin is one of Louisiana’s largest nesting colonies for several species of water birds.
