Sea Lice in Louisiana Threaten the Gulf Coast

If you haven’t already heard: Be warned. There’s something invading Louisiana Gulf Coast shores that will make your skin crawl. Known as sea lice, they have found their way throughout the gulf coast, making swimming this summer a lot more hazardous. Luckily, there are some things you can do to prepare.

Anyone venturing off into the Gulf of Mexico this year should beware.

Known as sea lice or seabather's eruption, the pains are caused by the larvae of thimble jellyfish.

If your skin comes in contact with the 'sea lice', it can cause rashes, intense itchiness, small blisters, and headaches.

There are some products on the market that can help prevent the sting of these jellyfish.

So make sure you be aware of what's going on if you head out to gulf waters this summer.
