The Alexander State Forest in Rapides Parish is the perfect spot to spend a day or two exploring, where you can surround yourself with towering pines and stunning scenery. With nearly 8,000 acres to explore, it’s a natural playground for nature lovers. This is where you’ll find the Indian Creek Reservoir, a scenic little spot with campgrounds, recreation areas, and a lovely little waterfront trail in Louisiana that’s perfect for a family adventure.
The trail is a 3.5-mile loop that will bring you all around the reservoir.
Don’t confuse this spot with the Indian Creek Campground, which is in Independence. Though they share similar names (and are both great options for outdoor activities), they are in different parts of the state.
The trail is easy enough for the entire family to enjoy, so go ahead and load up the whole crew for a day of fun in the sun.
Don’t forget the dog! Dogs are welcome on the trail, just remember to keep them on a leash. Wildlife is abundant here, especially deer, and you wouldn’t want your fur baby taking off trying to catch Bambi.
You can even rent a campsite at Indian Creek Campground and spend a weekend roughing it in a tent or in your RV. This gives you plenty of time to explore both this waterfront trail in Louisiana and its aquatic version! Just keep in mind that the campground is separate from the recreation area.
