The Iconic Hiking Trail In Louisiana Is One Of The Coolest Outdoor Adventures You’ll Ever Take
Finding unique trails in Louisiana is one of my favorite things to do, and this one might be one of the coolest trails ever. The Monkey Trail is a series of trails just outside of Shreveport that caters to both mountain bikers and traditional hikers, and it’s just perfect this time of year. Let’s check it out:

The trails are mainly single track, with plenty of rolling hills and switchbacks to keep your blood pumping.

10 miles in one day (on foot) is a lofty goal, so feel free to check out the shorter trail first.

Cell service is usually not an issue here, so you won't have to worry about that.

Chimpanzees!
The trails are very close to Chimp Haven, a retirement center for over 300 chimpanzees. The sanctuary takes care of chimpanzees who have retired from being used for medical research. You may have even seen the docu-series Meet the Chimps which is available on Disney+.
You'll be able to hear them in the distance while you're on the trail which adds a very unique soundtrack that you won't usually hear when you're hiking in Louisiana!

The trails can be very muddy after a rainfall. This beautiful photo above shows a part of the trail just after a snowfall, which looks dreamy! It doesn't snow very often in Louisiana, so when it does, make sure you get outside and explore it!
