Diners are a true-blue American institution and the absolute best places to find home-cooked comfort food. While we see modern ones popping up across Louisiana all the time, there’s something to be said for the nostalgic feel of those reflecting the diner heyday of the 1950s. Whether you grew up in diners like this or simply remember them from television, this unique eatery will delight you in every way. It’s one of those friendly establishments where you’re greeted by name and feel like one of the family. And the food? Off the charts!
Nestled in the heart of Cajun Country, Hub City Diner has been a Lafayette favorite for decades.
While Hub City isn't a true relic of the '50s (it was opened in 1990), the owners have done everything possible to give it the homey feel of an old-school diner.
You’ll feel like you’ve been transported through time when you walk in the doors.
The 1950s-themed diner has a fun atmosphere that captures the essence of an era long passed. The bright colors and the retro decorations will fill you with nostalgia.
Of course, breakfast food is where diners shine. Hub City may just have some of the best omelettes in the area, not to mention their out-of-this-world biscuits!
One of the most popular items is the chicken fried steak - and for good reason!
This may just be the best chicken fried steak in the country. Served with mashed potatoes, gravy, and one of their mouthwatering sides, it’s so good you’ll be licking your plate. This is comfort food at its finest!
