The passenger train was a popular mode of transportation, connecting several towns in St. Tammany Parish and also New Orleans. Today, the rail has been converted into a 30+ mile pathway called the Tammany Trace, a great trail for hikers and bikers alike.

Buddie Petit was a talented jazz cornetist, playing all over New Orleans in the early 1900s. He even was lured out to Los Angeles for a brief time, before coming back to New Orleans and spending the rest of his life in the Big Easy.
