New Orleans is a city where anything goes. From the delicious food to the mesmerizing architecture, there’s a lot to love about the Big Easy. One thing that draws people from all over the world to New Orleans is the haunted side of the city. New Orleans has long been a paranormal hotspot, and if you’re feeling brave, you can rent this haunted mansion in Louisiana where you might just have a paranormal encounter of your own.
The Fleur de Lis Mansion is one of the most unique VRBO rentals in New Orleans, and you could have the entire place to yourself for a truly memorable weekend.
Nestled in the Lower Garden District, you’ll be right in the center of everything. The Convention Center, the World War II Museum, and Mardi Gras World are all just steps away from the mansion.
The mansion has been carefully renovated to reflect a perfect balance between the old and new.
Original to the building, the brick walls are thirteen inches deep and held together with horse hair, sand from the Mississippi River, and moss. They just don’t make them like this anymore!
Just know that some rooms are more haunted than others, and you may end up with a semi-friendly house guest during your stay. The Red Room is one of the more haunted hotspots, and this ghost likes to move things around, particularly a specific crystal dish that’s kept on the back of the toilet. Keep your eye on it during your stay, it will probably end up on the floor with no explanation. Feel free to put it back on the toilet, the spirit will eventually move it back to the ground.
You may even hear the voice of a male ghost come through the speaker system.
Known as an electronic voice phenomenon (EVP), many paranormal experts believe that spirits can manipulate the energy surrounding electronic devices, using them as a bridge to communicate. No one has ever been able to decipher what the male voice is saying, though.
