Festivals have been a part of Louisiana’s culture for years, and no matter where you may live in the state, you are sure to stumble upon a fun celebration brimming with music, food, and games. Each one is unique, so you’ll be sure to learn many new things in addition to having fun.
On September 25, Ascension Parish will host their fourth Hot Air Balloon Festival. Come prepared to stretch out with blankets and enjoy the hot air balloons, live music, and local foods.
The Opelousas Native Americans rejoice in their heritage with storytelling, dancing, drum making, and even a talking stick contest.

Outside New Orleans' Old Mint, a festival celebrating the life and legacy of Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong begins in August and lasts for three days. A second line parade and Jazz mass are just some of what the festival promises.

Although it's already passed, this festival is too awesome to not mention. Local and natural resource industries teach about trap settings, how to skin a nutria, and oyster shucking. Guests can enter a contest in any of the above or simply enjoy the food and live music.
Come for Cajun dance July 17 lessons, traditional food, and a fiddle workshop. You'll also be able to attend the Louisiana State Fiddle championship!
