When you think of Louisiana landscapes, images of cypress trees, alligators, and bayous probably come to mind. While there are endless trails and parks that will show you the traditional swampy Louisiana views, there’s one hidden trail that will show you a completely different view of Louisiana, and it’s a bird’s eye view, to boot! Located in the forests of Bienville Parish within the Kisatchie National Forest, Driskill Mountain is one of Louisiana’s true hidden gems.

The trail to the summit is located on private property, but the owners have been very generous in allowing the general public access to the trails.

You can park at the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church and then follow the signs to the trail.
As a reminder, be sure to stay on the trail and leave only footprints so that future hikers can experience this beautiful hike for generations to come.

The hike is about two miles out-and-back, with some elevation gain along the way.

While this isn’t your typical boardwalk trail, this primitive trail is fairly easy for most people and even the youngest of outdoor explorers should be able to tackle it with minimal effort.
