1. Blue Dog Cafe
With an atmosphere as good as the food, it’s no wonder why people have been dining at the Blue Dog Cafe for years. The walls are decorated with the works of the originator of the iconic Blue Dog, George Rodrigue. 2. Chicken on the Bayou & Boudin Shop

3. Herby-K’s
Just about everyone in the Shreveport area has had a Shrimp Buster from Herby-K’s. The same family has been running this restaurant in the same building since 1936, and as the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Find it at 1833 Pierre Ave, Shreveport, Louisiana 71103.
4. Middendorf’s
Home of the original thin fried catfish, Middendorf’s has been serving up some of the best seafood you’ll ever taste for over 80 years. Located on Lake Maurepas/Pass Manchac, you can get there by car or even by boat. Located at 30160 Old US-51, Akers, Louisiana 70421.
5. Olde Tyme Grocery
Perhaps the best po’boys in Lafayette are right here at the Olde Time Grocery. They’ve been making "poor boys" famous since 1982, and just about everyone in the Lafayette area can vouch for them—they’re delicious. Located at 218 W Saint Mary Blvd, Lafayette, Louisiana 70506.
6. Prejean’s Restaurant
Prejean’s has been feeding the Lafayette area since 1980, and it’s only gotten better with age. Serving up everything from delicious steaks to world famous gumbo, everyone loves Prejean’s. People probably best remember Big Al—the fourteen foot alligator sitting in the dining room. Located at 3480 NE Evangeline Hwy, Lafayette, Louisiana 70507.
7. Strawn’s Eat Shop
Mr. Strawn opened Strawn’s Eat Shop in 1944 and it has even a Shreveport tradition ever since. While the business has changed owners multiple times since it opened, one thing remains the same— they serve the best pies in the state. 8. Willie Mae’s Scotch House
There’s a reason there’s always a line over at Willie Mae’s, and it’s because they have the best fried chicken around. People come from all over just to have a taste of this finger-licking chicken, and it’s worth your while to give it a try. Located at 2401 St. Ann Street, New Orleans, LA 70119.
