Take A Drive Along Louisiana's All-American Road For An Unforgettable Experience
The Creole Nature Trail is one of only 43 designated scenic byways in the United States. Come experience the beauty of nature as flora and fauna collide in the 180 miles of scenic highways known as the “Louisiana Outback.”

The trail covers the southwestern part of Louisiana, covering everything from marshes to beaches. The two main entrances are in Sulphur and Lake Charles, right off I-10

Adventure Point is located at 2740 Ruth Street in Sulphur, La and is a great place to start your journey. This free attraction will teach you about the history of the area, where the best places to spot alligators and migratory birds are, and there are also tour guides available to answer any questions you may have.

As you drive the trail you're pretty much guaranteed to see wildlife. 28 species of mammals, 400 different types of birds, and more than 30 different types of reptiles/amphibians call these prairies and marshes home.

Don't forget your camera! You wouldn't want to miss your shot at taking a picture of this cute little fella.

It's also a fisherman's paradise. 619 square miles of water (saltwater and freshwater) and over 130 different species of fish ensure you'll find the perfect honey hole. It's also a popular area for crabbing and shrimping.

Beautiful wildflowers brighten up the trail. Blue water leafs, spider lilies, purple iris, and beach morning glories are just some of the flowers you'll come across along the way.

Kick back and relax on one of the 26 miles of Gulf Beaches.

Since the beaches are fairly secluded, they're a great place for finding shells. Pro tip: low tide after a storm is the best time to search for shells.
