We’re almost mid-way through October, and as we get closer to Halloween, it’s time to start thinking about all the spooky activities October brings. We’ve found 7 of the spookiest activities you can have in Louisiana to put you in the mood for Halloween.
The Myrtles Plantation is well-known for being haunted, and if you dare, you can spend the night in one of the rooms to see for yourself. If you’d rather not (and we don’t blame you), you can always take a tour instead.

You need a tour guide to enter, but you can visit Marie Laveau’s tomb which is located in St. Louis No. 1 Cemetery. You’ll be able to find it pretty easy, just look for the tomb with all the "X’s" on it. Just don’t add your own, that’s vandalism. There have been several reports of paranormal activity in this historic cemetery, those wandering the cemetery have reported being pinched and even shoved.

While Muriel’s has only been around since 2001, the building itself dates back to the 1800s. Employees and guests have reported seeing sparkly lights, hearing distinct knocking sounds, and disembodied voices in addition to glassware flying off the shelves. Table for two?

The DeRidder Jail, known as the Gothic "Hanging" Jail, has an interesting history. Built in 1914, the jail was unique in that it was one of the first jails to include a shower, toilet, and window in every cell. In 1928, two men were found guilty of murdering a cab driver and were hanged for their crimes. While the jail isn’t in use today, some believe that the spirits of some of the inmates remain. You can take a tour of the jail, and this Halloween season they are doing a "Gothic Jail After Dark" which isn’t for the faint of heart.

This famous couple met their fate on a country road in Gibsland when they were ambushed by police. You can visit the site today, and some say that you can hear the sound of gunshots and screams during a full moon.
