If you’re looking for scenic trails to explore, boy do we have the spot for you. Located down in Marrero, Barataria Preserve is filled with dozens of beautiful trails that are perfect for the outdoor explorer. There’s one trail, in particular, with endless views that will leave you speechless. Let’s check it out.
Featuring over 20,000 acres of some of Louisiana’s finest natural scenery, it’s fair to say that Barataria Preserve is a nature lover’s paradise.
For a truly beautiful hike, take the Bayou Coquille Trail to the Marsh Overlook. The out-and-back trail is just about a mile each way, so you can knock it out pretty quickly.
There are interpretive signs peppered along the trail, so you can learn more about the area. You’ll find benches along the trail, too, which are great for sitting for a moment and taking in the view.
Barataria Preserve is free to enter and open daily from sunrise to sunset. The Visitor’s Center is open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. For more information, be sure to check out the preserve’s website. Parts of trails can be closed, so you’ll want to check the latest updates before you head out.
