1. Spend a weekend relaxing in a cabin.

2. Zip line over alligators.

3. Poverty Point
Poverty Point’s original inhabitants left no written record of their day to day lives, but archaeologists are constantly finding new clues to piece together their lives. Built over 3,000 years ago, Poverty Point was designated a World Heritage Site in 2014. It’s located at 6859 LA-577, Pioneer, LA 71266 and you can read more about it

4. Lake Martin
You’ll find Lake Martin just outside of Breaux Bridge, in the Cypress Island Nature Preserve. Not only is this lake home to a massive rookery for thousands of wading birds, but it’s also home to hundreds of alligators, turtles, and all the usual suspects you’d find in the swamps. 5. Avery Island
Spend a day over on Louisiana’s most famous salt dome and learn about how Tabasco is made. Once you’ve taken the tour and hit up the gift shop to snag some delicious snacks and sauces, take a stroll through the Jungle Gardens for a memorable afternoon. 6. Cypremort Point State Park
Located in St. Mary Parish, Cypremort Point State Park overlooks Vermilion Bay. It’s a popular place for water skiing, sailing, and fishing. 7. Go on a swamp tour.
