When you’re on the hunt for a new hiking trail to explore, you can’t go wrong with any of the trails within the BREC system. The Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC, as it’s more commonly known) oversees more than 180 parks and facilities throughout the area, each one more beautiful than the last.
One of the parks within the BREC system is the Kendalwood Road Park, a satellite conservation area with two trails that will take you throughout the area. If you’re up for an adventure, then grab your sneakers and set off on a short and sweet hike that won’t take up too much of your time, but doesn’t compromise beauty for brevity. Let’s check it out.
Clocking in at 85 acres, Kendalwood Road Park is an ideal spot to spend a few hours escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life while being surrounded by lush greenery.
The Arrowwood Trail is a 1.2-mile loop trail that starts practically right from the parking lot and will take you through some truly enchanting scenery.
This trail was added to the park in 2019 and will add about a mile to your journey, but you'll be glad you took it since you'll have a front-row seat to Bayou Manchac.
If you think you've lost the trail, just keep an eye out for the blazes.
