Not every outing has to be an all-out event for your wallet as well. For an affordable attraction to spend your time at, Chicot State Park is a great option, whether you’re here for the day, or the weekend. Paying $3 per person for the park or a bit more for a cabin stay is no problem when you get to spend it in such beauty.
Today's adventure takes us to Chicot State Park, the largest of Louisiana's state parks. Here, there are 6,400 acres of park that cover multiple ecosystems and a variety of scenery.
The landscape varies from marsh and forest to hilly areas and the beautiful Lake Chicot. Great items to bring are binoculars and a good camera, or have your phone camera on hand.
When it comes to spending a weekend trip here, even the cabins are affordable. There are lodges, cabins, and deluxe cabins at different rates you can use to give yourself somewhere comfortable to sleep.
Once you've got your spot settled for the day or for longer, you can start really enjoying the park. Kayaking, trails, bird and wildlife spotting, and even fishing will keep you occupied for however long you need it.
Also at Chicot State Park are a number of hiking trails, including one made just for kids. Whether you want to hike alone or with the family, there are choices for everyone.
If you somehow run out of things to do during your visit, check out the Louisiana State Arboretum. The gorgeous beech-magnolia forest also allows for many Louisiana native plants to flourish on display, perfect for learning more about native flora.
For campground details and booking, check out the Louisiana State Park’s reservation website. There are multiple options at different price points, so make sure to check out what fits your budget best.
