Fort Macomb is one of the most interesting abandoned places in Louisiana. This 19th-century fort has a ton of history and beautiful ruins. The site is not open to the public, however. Any persons found on the property will be considered trespassers.

Just at the edge of New Orleans city limits, Fort Macomb sits guarding Chef Menteur Pass.

Fort Macomb was built in 1822, seven years after the British forces invaded New Orleans.
