I am somewhat a cliche'. I grew up running around barefoot on a farm in Kentucky.
I love writing, art, sunshine, all animals and my incredibly patient husband, who tolerates my "crazy animal lady" side.
Wine is one of those drinks that speaks for itself. Most people think California when it comes to wine, but Kentucky has a nice selection of vineyards and wineries as well. Mind you, most ours aren’t massive, like an Italian winery, but they do produce some of the tastiest nectars you will ever put in your mouth.
2115 Smith Road in Eubank is home to this vineyard and winery that invites guests to sit for samples, and hosts a beautiful place for events, like weddings.
This small winery in Upton is located off 1079, and offers visitors some of the juiciest wines in Kentucky. The Vineyard is in Hart County, a cave rich area, making the soil and its nutrients perfect for growing succulent fruits to create delicious wines.
Grapes are grown in Carter County and this winery is located at 1081 Rock Springs Road in Grayson. Appointments are preferred here, but it is well worth the visit. All fruit is handpicked for quality and inspected before going into the batch.
This is a small farm that evolved into a winery located on 9566 US 41 Alt in Henderson. This is one of Kentucky’s true hidden gems that many return visitors found initially on accident.
This delightful winery is on 1800 US 60 in Morganfield and despite a slow beginning in 2011, it is now a popular place to enjoy a fragrant, fruity bottle of their best.
Though we are known more for Bourbon, Bluegrass wine is also quite fine. There are days when sipping a nice Red can be tastier and more appropriate then a shot of Bourbon… for some. Realistically, almost everyone occasionally “needs” a drink. If you have a favored Kentucky winery not on this list, please share in the comments below.
