I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
There’s nothing that quite compares to a stay at a bed-and-breakfast. B&Bs have it all: well-appointed accommodations, indulgent brunch spreads, cozy and comfortable decor, all wrapped in a postcard-perfect package. Add in a couple roaring fireplaces and clawfoot tubs, and you have the makings of a delightful little getaway! And if you’re looking for the most charming B&B in Kentucky, you’ll want to venture down to Burlington’s Willis Graves Bed & Breakfast.
In the heart of northern Kentucky, surrounded by the rolling blue hills for which the Bluegrass is named, sits the lovely little locale of Burlington. Founded in 1816, Burlington has always been the county seat of historic Boone County, named, of course, for the famous explorer and Kentuckian. Burlington has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979, and is a delight of a place to visit.
In the 1830s, Kentuckian Willis Graves built his family a stately Federal-style home in beautiful Burlington, which stands on the property to this day, along with a cabin and cottage.
All three buildings have been thoughtfully restored and renovated into a total of six guest suites, each of which is decorated with period furnishings, rustic features, and modern-yet-classic touches.
In this cozy little cottage (which you'll have all to yourself!), you'll find a light, bright space with a luxurious soaking tub outfitted with rustic hardware. The newest house on the property, this quaint dwelling harkens back to 1940.
This home retains all the old features of yesteryear. It's been immaculately cared for, and it's hard to believe that it's 200 years old! This home has two different accommodations, each with their own entrance and unique features.
All three of the accommodations at Willis Graves Bed & Breakfast are exemplary, offering guests the unique opportunity to step back in time, in one of the most charming, scenic settings in Kentucky.
