Whether you’re looking for a heart-stopping thrill or a more relaxed adventure, Kentucky has the perfect destination. Both of these types of adventure-seekers will definitely enjoy a unique trip with Sheltowee Trace Adventure Resort, which is located in Corbin, Kentucky. The resort will take you on a whitewater adventure that is an outdoor lover’s dream and even gets you up close to Kentucky’s most famous natural wonder.
Sheltowee Trace Adventure Resort in the town of Corbin offers a number of exciting adventures, excursions, and places to spend the night. If you love to get out on the water, then your favorite activity may just be their White Water Rafting trips that are held in the spring, summer, and fall.
The trips vary based on the season and some can accommodate adventurers as young as 7 years old. Some trips are more family-friendly with a lot of relaxing floating and paddling, while others get you in the middle of Class IV rapids in a rustic area of Kentucky.

In the spring, from late March into May, and then again in the fall, the resort offers rafting on the Big South Fork. There are options to go into the gorge or the canyon, and both are exciting and scenic destinations.
The Gorge trip is an all-day affair that includes lunch, and you must be at least 13 years old. It's the most strenuous of the trips as you'll encounter some Class IV rapids and plenty of thrilling adventures. The Canyon trip is a bit calmer and more family-friendly. It's a half-day afternoon trip that takes you through steady Class III rapids and provides incredibly scenic views of the surrounding rock formations.
The trip actually begins at the base and is very family-friendly. Children must be 6 years old and weigh at least 40 pounds, and this all-day excursion is filled with a variety of fun. After getting up close to the rush of the falls, you'll head downstream along Class III rapids and then enjoy lunch aboard the Cumberland Star Riverboat, during a 5-mile cruise to the take-out point. This is a wonderful family outing and perfect for those who want the experience of white water rafting without the heart-stopping thrills.
It's easy to make your whitewater adventure a little getaway, as the resort offers a number of options for overnight accommodations. There are also other activities to enjoy, such as zip lining, kayaking, and bike rentals.
Or you may just choose to stick to the ultimate whitewater experience with a trip to Cumberland Falls or along the Big South Fork. These unique adventures have the right amount of thrill for any outdoor lover and they can be found right here in Kentucky.
