One of the many things Kentucky is known for is bourbon. Our Bourbon Trail attracts visitors from all over the world and locals also enjoy spending time tasting and touring at the wide variety of distilleries around the region. While most visit for the beverage itself, many also love checking out the most beautiful distilleries in Kentucky that offer lovely scenery, history, and a relaxing atmosphere for an afternoon away. Willett Distillery in Bardstown has plenty of history, but it’s newer to the visitor and tour scene, so take a closer look and see why you should plan a visit.
The Willett Distillery dates back to 1936 when this family business was founded near the Willett family farm. The first batch of Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey was produced the next year and the rest, as they say, is history.
Over 25,000 barrels have been produced in these historic buildings, which have undergone some renovations and changes over the years. But the tradition continues on and the distillery remains a family business after all these years.
And the family wants to welcome you to their distillery for tours and tastings. This gorgeous property feels like a living museum, but with many modern touches.
Reservations for tours and tastings are required and you'll definitely want to plan ahead. You may not take a self-guided tour here, but you'll love the format of both the tasting and the distillery and production tour. You can read about both experiences on the distillery's website.
In addition to the tastings, be sure to make a reservation at The Bar at Willett. The bartenders here are amazing and knowledgeable and you can also enjoy small bites while relaxing inside or on the patio. You can make these reservations through the website linked below.
Many visitors to the Bourbon Trail are surprised at the beauty of these distillery properties. But here in Kentucky, we're not surprised, as we know how lovely our state is and the stops along the Bourbon Trail truly show off the classic beauty of the Bluegrass State.
Of all of the most beautiful distilleries in Kentucky, Willett Distillery is one that should be on your radar. Learn about its long history, taste its impeccable whiskeys, and enjoy time along Kentucky’s famous Bourbon Trail. Do you have plans to visit Willett Distillery?
