Hopefully by now you’ve learned that you can’t judge a book by its cover, especially when it comes to restaurants. An unassuming, historic building remains a popular diner if it has two things—great food and welcoming service. Frankfort’s oldest restaurant, Rick’s White Light Diner, has both. In fact, it has some of the best food you’ll find in the south.
Operating as the oldest restaurant in Frankfort, the building that houses Rick's White Light Diner was built in 1943.
The unassuming exterior does have character with memorable signage and picnic tables out front. But it's what you'll find inside that is the real draw.
The interior is a quintessential diner, but with plenty of Cajun flair.
The walls are chockfull of collectibles, photos, and license plates. The colorful, vibrant feel matches up perfectly with the personality of Chef Rick and his mouthwatering creations.

The breakfast and lunch menus are filled with Cajun classics, among other items.
The Eggs Benedict is claimed to be the best and you'll find it difficult to argue. The white cheddar grits and grilled garlic potatoes also perfectly accompany any of the breakfast specialties.
Rick and his staff will make you feel right at home in his diner.
The interior is small and intimate, which is ideal for striking up a conversation with a fellow customer or even the staff. This neighborly attitude is not just encouraged, it's expected.
If you're looking for a breakfast or lunch spot in Frankfort, this is it.
Rick's is perfectly located in Kentucky's capital city. The diner is open Tuesday - Friday 10am - 5pm and Saturday 8am - 3pm. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. So plan accordingly so you can visit this charming diner for some of the best food you'll find in the south.
