Discovering these places throughout our state is exciting and fascinating and every once in awhile you come across one that is truly unique and surprises you in the best ways possible. In the small town of Danville, you’ll find a museum that you may not have heard of, but is not only award-winning, but definitely worth a visit. The Great American Dollhouse Museum is an incredible museum hiding in Kentucky that may be a little strange, but it is utterly fascinating.

The 6,000 square foot building was built in 1939 and perfectly houses the treasures inside. Our country's history comes to life in miniature form and the museum is an amazingly intriguing way to experience it.

The first section is a timeline of the United States that "winds its way through history from Native American, Colonial, Old West, Southwest and Victorian eras through the decades of the 20th century, ending in a modern scene that includes a hot tub, cell phones, and an exhausted babysitter." And all of these are represented by enchanting dollhouses and miniature displays.

The third section is the most imaginative with a heavily forested fantasy land with fairies, elves, witches, trolls and a walk-in dragon cave. It's a fun experience for all ages.

An extensive amount of time, talent and passion has gone into creating this unique space and while it may be just a little strange, you'll be fascinated by the astonishingly accurate depiction of our country's past.
