I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
Bowling Green is a delightful destination for hands-on learning, with the town home to everything from the Hardin Planetarium and Chaney’s Dairy Barn to the Kentucky Heritage Museum (which has an entire exhibit dedicated to Duncan Hines)! Transportation is this museum mecca’s forte, however, with the National Corvette Museum, Aviation Heritage Park, and Historic Railpark Train Museum covering pretty much every vehicle under the sun — and sky. Today we’re taking a day trip to the Historic Railpark Train Museum, an unforgettable and immersive experience for Kentucky locomotive lovers.
There's something so romantic and compelling about trains, a form of travel from yesteryear. Trains served as the most important mode of transportation during a period of time called "The Golden Age" of railroads, which lasted from the 1880s until the 1920s.
Railroad enthusiasts young and old will be both entertained and educated by informative, interactive displays. You'll hear from a real L&N cook, pullman porter, and conductor in the museum and learn about five different train sounds and what they signify. And of course, guests are encouraged to climb aboard and enjoy an immersive, hands-on adventure aboard these (stationary) trains.
For fans of miniature trains and model railroad displays, this museum has an entire room dedicated to all things models that's impossibly charming and sure to capture your imagination.
Have you been to this fun train museum in Kentucky before? The Historic Railpark Train Museum is a must for locomotive lovers young and old in the Bluegrass State!
