Kentucky is known for its Bourbon, but our state is also a great destination for local breweries. Over recent years, this brewing scene has grown tremendously and you now have a long list of places to visit when you’re looking for a cold drink and a relaxed atmosphere. While several of these breweries have a similar feel — taproom with an adjacent brewery, open space, big tables, industrial feel — there are plenty of unique breweries in Kentucky that are also great for hanging out. This list includes 6 of the best breweries in Kentucky, but keep in mind there are plenty of others out there to explore!
Please note, Dueling Barrels Brewery & Distillery is temporarily closed.
Braxton Brewing Company is a favorite local brewery in Northern Kentucky and they recently upped their taproom game with the addition of a fantastic rooftop patio. The taproom was already a fun place to meet up with friends, but this new area is downright gorgeous and overlooks the rooftops of Covington. Learn more about this new patio area here.
3rd Turn Brewing was already a unique brewery in Kentucky, but its massive greenhouse location is a local favorite. Located in Crestwood near Louisville, this scenic spot offers plenty of space, entertainment, events throughout the year, and tasty food. See more of this greenhouse brewery in our previous article here.

There aren't many states (if any) that can say they are home to a circus brewery. Bircus Brewing Company in Ludlow is definitely unique, as you can watch circus acts inside this historic theatre while enjoying a local brew. There's plenty of entertainment here and the food and drink are just as enticing. Read more about Kentucky's circus brewery here.
We already shared the outdoor version of 3rd Turn in Crestwood, but the taproom in Louisville is also quite unique. A former church has been transformed into a brewery that feels like a comfortable living room and hang-out space. Meet up here with friends for relaxation and some local drinks. See more of this church turned brewery in our previous article here.

West Sixth is a popular local brewery in Lexington, and their farm location in Frankfort is delightfully unique. Enjoy the fresh air and the natural beauty of Kentucky on this large property that becomes quite cozy as the sun goes down. This is also a great brewery for kids and for those who love the outdoors — there is a trail around the farm. See more of this farm brewery in Kentucky here.
