Michael Jackson’s song Thriller can be heard all year long, but it’s especially popular at Halloween. Of course the accompanying dance is just as well-known as the song itself and Kentucky celebrates it in a big way each year. On Sunday the 29th, the streets of Lexington will be filled with zombies – and Michael Jackson, himself – during the most thrilling parade and event of the season.
This one-of-a-kind Halloween event in Lexington takes place annually and this year it happens this Sunday, the 29th.
The event takes over downtown Lexington, starting at 2pm. There are a variety of activities and something for all ages. But as the sun goes down, appropriately, the zombies begin to make their appearance.
You will see a little bit of everything at this event and parade.
You can always choose to go as a spectator, but many opt to go all out in their best Halloween makeup and costumes. You will definitely be impressed (and likely creeped out) by the efforts put into these transformations.
Participants have been rehearsing and preparing for this moment and you're sure to be amazed at the familiar scene. Watch from the sides of Main Street as the crowd, lead by "Michael Jackson," dances down the street, ending up at Mill Street. The sight is something you have to see to believe and is a great way to wrap up a fantastic Halloween season in Kentucky.
The Thriller Parade is a can’t-miss event for zombie enthusiasts and of course fans of Michael Jackson. Have you danced through the streets of Lexington at this unique parade? Plan to visit this year? Let us know in the comments!
