As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
If you try and picture a place that is straight out of a storybook, you may envision a stately home, charming antiques and colorful gardens, perfect for viewing while rocking the day away on a lovely porch. You may be surprised to find that this exact scene exists in Kentucky, and the theme of this award-winning bed and breakfast is one that will whisk you away to another time, while staying put in the beauty of the Bluegrass State. A Storybook Inn in Versailles will welcome you into their classic movie-themed suites, tastefully appointed and warmly inviting.
Originally built in the late 1830s, A Storybook Inn is the oldest Select Registry Inn in Central Kentucky. Completely renovated in 2010, their four suites, as well as their larger Guest House, are all tastefully themed to provide a truly unique experience. The suites are each decorated with a classic movie in mind. The decor and ambiance will sweep you away to an era of elegance and romance.
As the largest of the four suites, "Somewhere In Time" is spacious and elegant. Complete with its own sitting room and very large bathroom, this was the original owner's suite and is referred to now as the "Presidential" or "Bridal" suite.
You'll love the natural light and exotic decor of the Casablanca Suite. A new king bed and warm tones fill the room with comfort and a taste of adventure. As does each suite, the Casablanca also has its own bathroom.
To escape to the Old South, book a stay in the Gone with the Wind Suite. It's a lovely space with separate sitting room, complete with a romantic fireplace.
The grounds of the Inn are colorful and lush. There are many spots to relax and rock in a rocking chair or lounge by an outdoor fire pit. Since it is located in the heart of horse country, the rolling hills and roaming horses are close by, as are many other attractions, including the Bourbon Trail.
Breakfast at A Storybook Inn is just as memorable as the suites. It is lovingly prepared and served with mindful ingredients. You'll enjoy your meal in the incredible 50-foot glass conservatory, overlooking the property.
The inn serves fresh, local items that are created by the innkeeper, Elise. They are happy to work around any dietary restrictions (just give them advanced notice), but they really shine when left to surprise you with a mouthwatering menu.
A Storybook Inn has taken a memorable theme and presented it in their home with elegance and class, while avoiding any touch of stuffiness. The Inn makes for the ideal escape— into your favorite classic movie—and an unforgettable stay in the heart of the Bluegrass State.
A Storybook Inn may be near many of Central Kentucky’s best attractions, but you’ll feel as if you’re in the middle of nowhere. Have you escaped to this charming Bed and Breakfast?
