I am somewhat a cliche'. I grew up running around barefoot on a farm in Kentucky.
I love writing, art, sunshine, all animals and my incredibly patient husband, who tolerates my "crazy animal lady" side.
The world is made up of different types of people from country to country, state to state, and county to county. It is not uncommon for people to stereotype the residents of different states, but that doesn’t make it true. Here in Kentucky we actually have a diverse variety of “types”, when it comes to residents.
Here are 15 types of interesting people you will find in the Bluegrass:
This is the standard person that Kentucky jokes are inspired by. They have become extremely rare over the decades, so it is unlikely you will encounter one.
The hipster is usually on point with whatever fashion world is available. Their wardrobe will contain the most up to date looks, never failing to be on top of the fashion world.
They likely will be wearing, or have something on their person that represents their favored team. They do not handle negativity regarding said team well.
These seemingly carefree individuals have a unique sense of style with a free spirited appearance. They are considered unconventional in their dress, but have the uncanny ability to make mismatched items blend together into perfection. True Bohemians make a "I don’t care" style, look good.
All across the Bluegrass State one can find individuals strolling about with a guitar, or some other instrument. Mind you, just because they have a guitar, doesn’t mean they can play it.
These hardworking people tend crops, live off the land, raise animals, then collect and sell the bounty that both produce. Most farmers are honest people whose worth is often undervalued.
This person knows everything about bourbon there is to know, including which type will best fit an individual’s wants or needs. They pride themselves on their ability to sniff test the amber liquid before ever taking a sip.
There are lots of other types of people in Kentucky, but this is a fair mix of small town and big city personalities. It’s hard not to stereotype when you are actually stereotyping, so no offense. Please feel free to comment if you, or someone you know, has met another unique type of individual in the Bluegrass State.
