I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
Known as the “Grand Canyon of Kentucky,” Red River Gorge is a canyon system along the Red River in the eastern part of the state. It’s an immensely scenic part of the Bluegrass that takes on a transcendent beauty during the height of fall foliage. While there are many ways to experience Red River Gorge in the autumn — scenic drives, amazing hikes, and incredible accommodations — our favorite allows fall fans to sit back and revel in the seasonal splendor of the Gorge. The Skylift ride at Natural Bridge State Resort Park takes visitors high above the canyons and treetops, allowing folks to revel in the most stunning fall foliage spectacle in Kentucky.
It's no secret Natural Bridge State Resort Park is one of the most beautiful places in the Bluegrass State.
While gorgeous all year round, in the fall, Natural Bridge takes on a sublime beauty that's downright divine. The juxtaposition of autumnal colors against the stark grey outcroppings, natural arches, and unique rock formations of this Kentucky park is, frankly, heavenly.
Natural Bridge State Resort Park is home to 10 hiking trails ranging from a half-mile to 7.5 miles in length that offer visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in this stunning autumn scene.
And while hiking is one of our favorite ways to recreate in this Kentucky State Park, there's nothing that quite compares to the experience of enjoying this fall foliage from above.
The Natural Bridge Skylift takes visitors high above the beautiful Gorge, offering birds-eye views of this resplendent region in Kentucky. This popular attraction invites visitors on a mile-long journey through spectacular mountain scenery, letting folks sit back and soak up the views.
This attraction operates seasonally, generally March/April through November. The skylift ride closes based on the fall foliage season in Kentucky, closing after the leaves have peaked. This fleeting moment -- the period in the heart of autumn and fall foliage in Kentucky -- is *the* best time to take a ride on the Skylift!
Because really, can you think of a better way to experience fall foliage in Kentucky, than from above? And while sitting back and quite literally enjoying the ride?
Who’s up for a high-flying adventure this autumn? A Skylift ride at Natural Bridge State Park is, in our opinion, the very best way to enjoy fall in Kentucky. For more information about this attraction, visit The Skylift at Natural Bridge‘s website.
