As a southern state, you’d expect to find plenty of southern-style restaurants throughout Kentucky, and there are, indeed, many to choose from. We’ve shared many traditional choices here, but today we are highlighting a slightly more eclectic choice that is big on charm and flavor. The Village Anchor in Louisville is a southern-style pub with many Kentucky influences, but a little European flair as well. In addition to the atmosphere, this favorite eatery also happens to have some of the best food you’ll ever try!
The Village Anchor is a lovely restaurant located in the Anchorage neighborhood of Louisville, directly east of downtown.
From the outside, it looks like a classic southern restaurant with a bright yellow color and large porch. While the southern influences are strong in the ambiance and menu, it's the unique factors in both that make this restaurant stand out.
The restaurant describes itself as a place "where a lively Parisian bistro greets
the more traditional English Pub."
Once you see the interior, you'll understand exactly what they mean.

The rich colors and glamorous decor give the pub a more "dressed up" feel, yet it still has that southern comfort you'd expect in a Kentucky restaurant.
There are many spaces throughout the eatery to dine, whether you're on your own or with a large group. Reservations are definitely recommended, and make sure you also check out the downstairs bar, the Sea Hag. It's a great spot to grab a drink and a bite to eat!

Another favorite dining spot at The Village Anchor is the outdoor patio.
During the day, it's shaded and inviting, and at night it glows with twinkling lights. It's one of the best patios in the area, and perfect for enjoying some of the best food in the state.
Speaking of the food, The Village Anchor serves a scrumptious lunch and dinner throughout the week and a mouthwatering brunch and dinner on the weekends. Their menu is award-winning and a must-try in Louisville.
While the food stands alone in taste, the presentation adds to its appeal. Order a jumbo pretzel and beer cheese, and it will arrive like this! There are other unexpected surprises, such as their unmatched Hot Banana Pudding Meringue and the delivery of your check in a vintage romance novel.
Brunch is a very popular meal at The Village Anchor and you can try it on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Red Velvet Pancakes, Filet Mignon on Bleu Cheese Biscuits, and the Hotter Brown are just some of the favorites. Don't forget one of their famous Bloody Marys!
Grab a few friends who love a good southern meal with a twist and visit The Village Anchor for an unforgettable brunch, lunch, or dinner.
