As spring arrives and Kentucky begins to bloom, you may be looking for a secret spot to take in the beauty. Kentucky has many gardens, from small, private backyards to vast parks, but there’s one specific spot in Union you’re guaranteed to love. Across from the popular Big Bone Lick State Park is Big Bone Gardens, a secret garden that you just have to visit.
Big Bone Gardens is a 6-acre private garden, lovingly cared for and shared with visitors. It's the perfect place to escape with its natural beauty and diverse sections.
As you're guided around the property, you'll visit several water gardens, including a blooming lotus pond. There are many unique views and plenty of opportunities to explore and relax.
The acreage also includes several historic structures, which add to the charm. If you're interested in antiques, check out the collection of old garden tools.
In spring and early summer, you'll experience endless blooms and color. When visiting, you may see owner Mary Ellen in her gardening hat, tending to her beautiful collection.
Big Bone Gardens is located at 3380 Beaver Road, Union Kentucky 41091. Visits are by appointment only and groups/clubs may also arrange a tour. Feel free to call them at 859-869-1315 to arrange a visit to this secret oasis.
