While the outdoors and nature are always open, it’s unclear what summertime is going to look like in terms of the lakes and beaches in Kentucky. But no matter what happens, there will always be sandy shores and clear water waiting for us at one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the state, Laurel River Lake. Laurel River Lake in Kentucky has everything you’d want in a relaxing day on the water and thankfully, it’s not going anywhere, so we can enjoy it as soon as possible.
Waiting for you just west of Corbin along I-75 is a lake that's known as the clearest in the state.
Laurel River Lake in Kentucky offers 5,600 acres of clear water and nearly 200 miles of treelined shores. It's a popular spot for fishing, boating, swimming, and relaxing on nice, warm days.
This manmade lake was impounded in 1974 and the photo below shows the area before it was flooded.
There are several campgrounds around the lake, as well as marinas if you aren't lucky enough to have your own boat. Or you can just make it a day trip to spend time near the water.
Kentucky's lakes are one of our many incredible features and Laurel River Lake definitely makes the list of one of the best in the state.
Laurel River Lake in Kentucky is a beautiful body of water that is ideal for all sorts of activities on the water, but also offers a sandy beach for relaxing in the sun.
