I am somewhat a cliche'. I grew up running around barefoot on a farm in Kentucky.
I love writing, art, sunshine, all animals and my incredibly patient husband, who tolerates my "crazy animal lady" side.
There are days we all wish we could step back in time and enjoy the entertaining venues of yesteryear. In reality we can. All we have to do is find some fun, exciting places that offer that true retro feel. We can visit some great modern attractions that offer a unique vintage environment.
Here are 10 retro places in Kentucky that will remind us about how things were (and still are, at least at these locations.)
This original drive in theater is located at 5270 S. Hwy 27 in Somerset. Watching a movie from the comfort of your car can bring back some very sweet memories.

This ice skating rink gives 5 hours of fun for only $9, which is a great deal. This rink is located at 1825 Gardiner Lane in Louisville and makes a great vintage family fun adventure.
Here's another drive in theater that has maintained its touch of vintage. It's located on 111 Drive in Lane in Calvert City and is a favored spot during open season.
This ironically named bowling alley is located on 80 Anderson Road in Frankfort. The service is friendly and the lanes are well maintained. There's also the benefit of a variety of ball weights and shoe sizes. This is a fun place to go with friends, family, or even alone.
This classic skating rink is located at 211 N Broadway in Berea. It uses more modern music, but still allows for solo and couple skating with that vintage roller rink feel.
This drive in is located at 6250 Nashville Road in Franklin. It's reminiscent of the ancient drive ins and offers a variety of the same snacks and condiments. If you love watching movies outside, make this spot a must visit.
This is a huge bowling alley at 9525 Taylorsville Road, with plenty of lanes available for a busy night, a variety of ball weights, dozens of shoe sizes, and a bar. There's a juke box available and an old style deli with anything from hot dogs to pizza and heated pretzels. Added bonus, they have arcade games if you want a break from bowling.
This is a retro rink that has been around for a while at 7864 Commerce Place in Florence. If you love to skate, this is a great place to take the family for a fun night out.
These are all fun places to hang out in a somewhat vintage atmosphere. Most of them have added a modern twist to an old favorite, but all have maintained a touch of that retro charm. What is your favorite retro spot to go out and enjoy? Tell us in the comments below!
