One thing we truly love and excel at in Kentucky is barbecue. There’s nothing like some fall-off-the-bone meat that’s been smoked low and slow for hours. Whether it’s at a family barbecue or going alone to a scrumptious barbecue restaurant, few things are better than some good old Kentucky barbecue. If you want to try some, check out the massive pulled pork sandwich at Smokey Bear’s BBQ & Catering in Corbin, Kentucky.
Hidden in the charming small town of Corbin, Kentucky, is an amazing barbecue joint that was opened in 2010 by Barry and Leanne Mays. Barry was a law enforcement officer who decided to pursue his passion for barbecue and he and Leanne have done that vision proud.
Over the last 14 years, Smokey Bear's has garnered a cult following for its sauces and dressings, all made with secret recipes crafted by the Mays. It’s shipped to loyal customers all over the nation and even up in Canada.
While the portions are generous for all of the dishes here, the star of the show is The Jailbreaker. It’s a massive and mouthwatering pulled-pork sandwich topped with bacon, onion tanglers, and a signature ranch dressing and barbecue sauce, all on a tasty toasted bun.
If you’re feeling extra courageous, you can get this big beast topped with jalapeños for an extra kick. Whichever way you take it, you’re going to be stuffed and satisfied. It comes with a side of your choice like corn bead hoe cakes, country green beans, "Smoke BBQ" beans, and a whole slew of other options.
If you can’t finish it off, that’s no problem. Take the rest home for another meal… or two! Just be warned that the flavor is so scrumptious that once you start in on this sandwich, you won’t want to stop.
Pulled pork isn’t the only thing on the menu. So many options will keep you coming back like beef brisket, baby back ribs, huge burgers, BBQ chicken, wings, catfish, and even an extensive gluten-free menu.
