I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
There’s a place in Kentucky where your wildest Willy Wonka dreams can come true. Rebecca Ruth Candy in Frankfort, Kentucky, is a tasty triple threat: a chocolate museum, chocolatier, and candy shop! Specializing in all sorts of chocolate creations, including the iconic Bluegrass State Bourbon Ball, a visit to this chocolate museum in Kentucky is delightful — and delicious!
This is Rebecca Ruth Candy, a fourth-generation, family-owned Kentucky Proud business.
In fact, the story of Rebecca Ruth Candy is absolutely fascinating. In 1919, two substitute school teachers in their mid-twenties, Ruth Hanly (Booe) and Rebecca Gooch, decided they were not cut out for the education field. The young women had received high praise from family and friends for the chocolates they gifted during the holiday season. So they decided to open a chocolate shop together.
Today, folks come from far and wide to try this chocolatier's iconic Bourbon Balls, which consist of a creamy bourbon center (with the kick of real bourbon!), covered in dark chocolate, and topped with a Southern pecan.
Tours are $6 for adults 18 and up, and $4 for children and teens 17 and under.
