I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. I have lived elsewhere twice, but keep coming back. I'm a video editor and freelance writer who enjoys watching people wearing University of Louisville uniforms excel at sports, scaling the faces of large rocks, and hanging out with my border collie/laborador/cattle dog mutt thingy that I have.
Kentucky has a lot of great restaurants with fun atmospheres, but one in particular, called Missy’s Out Of The Way Cafe, might just be the quirkiest. This family-friendly restaurant in Raywick serves hearty portions of American cooking– steaks bigger than your hand, speciality burgers, and juicy pork chops, to name a few. But the ambience at Missy’s is what makes it so unique and memorable.
They're not kidding when they call it the "Out Of The Way" Cafe.
Located on a secluded country road about four miles outside the town of Raywick, the drive to Missy's is part of the experience of eating there. It's about 35 minutes away from Bardstown, 30 minutes from Campbellsville, and almost an hour from Elizabethtown.
The exterior may look a bit unassuming, but don't let that fool you.
From Mardi Gras beads to Halloween costumes, giant stuffed animals to sports jerseys, you'll find anything and everything hanging on the walls at Missy's.
You're not going to leave Missy's hungry, that's for sure. They have a pretty large menu too, so you can order anything from a big salad to butterfly shrimp.
Missy’s Out Of The Way Cafe is located at 860 Horseshoe Bend Road, Raywick, KY 40060. To see their menu and check their hours (they vary based on the time of year), click here.
Has anyone every been to Missy’s before? What did you think?
