9. My Old Kentucky Home at 501 Stephen Foster Avenue in Bardstown
This is a historic part of Kentucky, as it is home to Federal Hill, home of the late state senator, John Rowan. The area is remarkably preserved from the house to the gardens. One can just imagine ladies in their finery strolling through the halls and gentleman sipping bourbon in the study.
8. Castlepost at 230 Pisgah Pike in Versailles
This castle in Kentucky started out as a residence, but has since been renovated and turned into a B&B and event venue. It offers modern comforts in a medieval atmosphere. It is the perfect place to let your own Prince Charming sweep you off your feet, or vice versa.
7. Fall Creek State Park
This beautiful spot is at 1144 New Fall Creek Road in Monticello and offers a barrage of serene places to relax and enjoy the surroundings. There is a relaxing waterfall to picnic at and just enjoy nature.
6. Caspian Terns on Lake Barkley
This section of Lake Barkley is in the Pennyrile State Park. It is a peaceful spot where you can sit for hours and watch the water fowl go about their business. There are also good fishing spots a safe distance from where the birds gather.
5. Falls at Johnson Mill
These beautiful falls can be seen from Johnson Mountain Road across the Coquille River. There is also a spot at the Prospect State Scenic Viewpoint where you can view the Giant Boulders rock formation and the falls together.
4. Mammoth Cave Sand Cave and other park attractions
This is located at the Mammoth Cave National Park and is a fascinating place to picnic before or after a cave tour. When most people think of Mammoth Cave they don’t think about the wondrous works of nature’s art outside the cave, but there is much to see and explore here.
3. McConnell Springs
McConnell Springs at the park has been a part of Lexington’s history since 1775. William McConnell and his friends camped out at this very spot that year during their travels. The springs have been home to a gun powder factory, a mill and several other businesses.

Not the building itself, but the living exhibitions within it. It is like being in a bubble under the ocean. It is a completely amazing experience.
1. Cumberland Falls at 7351 State Highway 90 in Corbin
This is the Niagara of the South, and one of two places where you can see a rainbow at night, (AKA a moon bow.) The falls is a beautiful place to visit and relax to the sound of the water cascading down, and the moonbow is especially magical. Once you witness it, the moonbow will be engraved in your memory as a special moment.
