There's actually quite a bit to do in this region of Kentucky and a ride with the Bluegrass Railroad is a must. This nostalgic experience gives you a unique view of the Kentucky countryside, as well as a history lesson on the land and the railroad, itself.
The station offers rides on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. from May through October.

Recently, Bluegrass Railroad added a new experience to its weekend rides — the open air car.
This "Hobo" Class is an exciting new way to ride the rails. It is located directly behind the locomotive and was built on a vintage flat car once used to haul Sherman Tanks in World War II.
There's no better view from the train than from this open air car. The pricing is the same as a First Class ticket, which is still affordable at $19 for adults and $17 for children 2-12.
If you prefer to sit in air conditioning or completely out of the elements, there are other options for the train rides.
There are regular seating tickets, as well as first class. No matter which you decide to choose, you'll love this train ride through Kentucky.
The 90-minute ride on the weekend trains takes you through the Kentucky countryside, as well as through the deep limestone cuts to the Kentucky River palisades.
You'll also get the chance to disembark and view the historic Young's High Bridge, built in 1889. The ride also takes you by the Wild Turkey Distillery, so you really get a view of so many Kentucky gems.
