It seems that at Christmas time, especially, most of us long for a simpler time where the holidays involved gathering with loved ones and sipping hot cocoa by the fire. You can actually have this experience in Kentucky at An Old Kentucky Christmas in Burlington. This old fashioned festival is about as charming as it gets this season and it’ll take you back in time for a magical holiday experience.
An Old Kentucky Christmas is a festival that takes place every year and is beautifully put on by the First Church of Christ in Burlington.
Several volunteers work very hard to create an old fashioned Christmas village and festival that is absolutely free to attend. Stroll along festively lit walkways and stop by one of many village shops for a family-friendly activity or a sweet treat.
There are several small shops set up where you can visit and participate in old fashioned fun. Stop by the General Store for a cup of hot chocolate, then decorate a cookie at Grandma's Cookie Shop. Kids will also learn firsthand how to write their names in charcoal, how to dip a wax candle, and how to play a few pioneer games. There are also horse-drawn carriage rides, a petting zoo, and many more nostalgic activities and entertainment.
An Old Kentucky Christmas is open December 7th and 8th from 5pm to 8pm and December 9th and 10th from 2pm to 8pm.
It's the simple, lovely, charming Christmas event you've been looking for and will surely become a family tradition for years to come.
