I am somewhat a cliche'. I grew up running around barefoot on a farm in Kentucky.
I love writing, art, sunshine, all animals and my incredibly patient husband, who tolerates my "crazy animal lady" side.
It is probably safe to say that there are plenty of God fearing people in our state. Faith is one of the things that holds Kentuckians together in times of tragedy or challenges. We were curious as to what the most religious counties in Kentucky were since faith is such a big part of our state. The Association of Religious Data Archives has a wonderful database of all religions and the amount of worshippers each has.
With that data in mind, here are 12 of the most religious counties in Kentucky:
This is not a large community, as it has only a little over 8,200 residents, but faith is strong here. Approximately 82.3% are members of a church or religious association and adhere to their beliefs.
There are a little over 30,000 residents in this extremely faith based community. Out of those residents, 73.3% are members of a church or religious association and adhere to their beliefs.
This little community has under 20,000 residents. Over 55.6% of the community are members of a church or religious association and adhere to their beliefs.
There are 28,432 residents living in this county. The majority of them live faith based lives, as 83.6% are members of a church or religious association and adhere to their beliefs.
There are almost 87,000 people that reside in Campbell County. Out of those residents, 49.2% are members of a church or religious association and adhere to their beliefs.
The population of this county is only 9,315. There are 64.7% of the communities that are members of a church or religious association and adhere to their beliefs.
This mid size community has around 37,028. However, the majority are living a faith based life. There is 75.8% of the community that are members of a church or religious association and adhere to their beliefs.
There are over 65,000 residents in this rural area, but it has a very diverse religious community, including an Amish sect. Over 73.2% of this county are members of a church or religious association and adhere to their beliefs.
This small community only has around 7,752. However, the majority are living a faith based life. There is 90.4% of the community that are members of a church or religious association and adhere to their beliefs.
There are 13,060 residents in this community. However, a whopping 91% are members of a church or religious association and adhere to their beliefs. That is the majority of the county.
Church doesn’t always happen in church, as some congregations meet outside in nature and have picnic gatherings. It is not uncommon to hear Kentucky folks say, “Have faith in God.” Faith is something we all share, as everyone has faith in something.
