Sometimes you get incredibly lucky and stumble across some of the best barbecue in the state, just by accident. If you’re anywhere near Georgetown, you’ll want to “accidentally” head to this family-owned BBQ joint that’s delightfully hidden off the beaten path. Babes BBQ is now officially in the running for the most mouthwatering barbecue in the Bluegrass state.
You may already realize this, but food often seems to taste better when it comes from a restaurant that's a little off the beaten path and is filled with love. Babes BBQ in Georgetown is an absolute treasure with home cooked food and impeccable service you can only find in a place that is run by truly kindhearted people.
When you arrive at Babes, you'll find their menu written on a dry erase board and you'll be greeted with a smile and a friendly welcome. You'll smell the smokey barbecue and sweet desserts and you'll already be thinking about when you can come back. And you haven't even tried the food yet.
You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but the pulled pork and brisket are stand outs. As far as sides go, try the corn pudding and fried okra for a traditional southern meal.
And then, on to dessert. Babes is famous for their Ding Dong Cake, pictured below, and you might as well purchase a whole one to take home. Or a pie. Or two. They are all that good.
The atmosphere at Babes is laid back and ideal for anyone who loves a good meal. The owners and staff will treat you like family and are genuinely happy you stopped in to dine with them.
After your meal, relax on the front porch rocking chairs and declare how lucky you are to have gone off the beaten path to this hidden gem barbecue joint. And for when you plan your own visit, keep in mind that Babes is closed on Sundays and Mondays, and open Tuesday - Thursday 11am - 3pm and Friday & Saturday from 11am to 8pm.
Kentucky has plenty of amazing options for barbecue and Babes is now officially on that list. Have you tasted the delicious barbecue at Babes? Share your experience with us in the comments!
