There are 45 state parks in Kentucky. Over in Slade, you’ll find the 2,300-acre Natural Bridge State Park. Here, you’ll have 10 hiking trails within the Daniel Boone National Forest as well as opportunities to birdwatch, canoe, fish, kayak, miniature golf, and more. Be sure to check out the park’s namesake, the 65-foot-high sandstone arch. Big Bone Lick State Historic Site is located in Union. This UNESCO World Heritage Site and International Biosphere Reserve is 52,830 acres and features 18 miles of hiking trails as well as boating and horseback riding opportunities. But its biggest (pun intended) feature happens to be its cave system. At over 420 miles long, it is the very largest cave system in the entire world. The park offers several different cave tours with varying lengths and levels of fitness required.
