While Louisville has always been a wonderful place to call home, it’s certainly been changing rapidly in recent years, and always for the better. Although we’re a small city, new businesses are constantly opening up shop here because Louisville’s a location teeming with opportunity. The result: the coolest city in the south with endless things to do and see!
1. Our amazing culinary scene.
We have such an array of restaurants in Louisville, especially for a city of our size! Competition in the culinary scene is high and no matter what neighborhood you're in, there's sure to be something delicious to eat nearby. Living in Louisville means you'll never run out of new restaurants to try. Check out
this list of some of the best restaurants in the city for some dinner ideas.
2. We have the most exciting festivals.
Although the Kentucky Derby Festival is hands-down the best annual festival we celebrate here in Louisville, there are plenty of others fairs and festivals that make Louisville an amazing place to live or visit. Some of these events include World Fest, NuLu Festival, Forecastle Festival, the St. James Art Show, and more.
3. The many breweries popping up around the city.
Perhaps the more hops, the more hip the city? All I know is that our breweries are thriving in Louisville, and people can't get enough!

4. And bourbon distilleries, of course.
Although we can't claim the title of the bourbon capital of the world, I'm sure we're fairly close behind. There's never a shortage of this amber drink at any restaurant or bar in Louisville. That's just a fact of life for some of us and paradise for others, but either way, it must give our city some cool points.

5. The many parks available to enjoy Kentucky nature.
While not everyone in the city may realize it, Louisville has some of the most beautiful parks in the country. For example, Jefferson Memorial Forest (pictured above) is the largest municipal urban forest in the United states at 6,500 acres! While some of us dream of escaping to the beach, others can only dream of exploring the lush, green forests that exist all around the city and state.

6. There's so much art and creativity wherever you go.
Do you know where this mural is? I'll give you a hint: Clifton. This is just a small example of the kind of creativity and passion for art found around our city! Whether it's performing arts like Kentucky Shakespeare, Cirque Louis, or Actor's Theater, or amazing visual works found in the KMAC, Speed Art Museum, or 21c, you'll be able to find something to take your breath away in Louisville. We have a great appreciation for creativity and art, and it definitely shows even just on the streets of our city.
7. Our streets are lined with fun shops, bars, and restaurants.
You can have a fun day without spending a cent just by walking down Frankfort Avenue or Bardstown Road and checking out the cute shops that line our streets. We have unique local bookstores, antique shops, thrift shops, coffee shops, and more that can keep you preoccupied all day. Yet still, the city doesn’t feel over-commercialized and overcrowded.
8. Learning is always fun at our museums.
Where else can you visit the world's largest baseball bat and view interesting contemporary art? Our many museums are a very cool part of our city to visit from time to time, whether you're a resident or not.
It's an especially great tool for parents who want to keep their days fun but educational.
