If You Live In Louisville, You Must Visit This Amazing State Park

E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park has just about every amenity you could ask for; there is a designated court for any sport that you wish to play, an Olympic-sized pool, and endless programs for you and your kids to enjoy throughout all four seasons of the year. Check out a few of the fun things you can do at our very own state park here in Louisville.
E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park is located at 3000 Freys Hill Rd., Louisville, KY 40241.
This park was named after Jefferson County Judge Erbon Powers "Tom" Sawyer, who was killed in a car accident on Louisville's Interstate 64. This massive state park is located right here in Louisville and has more amenities than any other park in the city. Take a look below to see the many activities the park has to offer.
There's an exhilarating BMX track.
It's home of the Louisville Astronomical Society's Urban Astronomy Center.
They hold frequent meetings in the darkest area of the park, as it is an excellent place to view the starry sky. To learn more, visit their official website

There are wide open fields to fly remote-controlled planes and drones.
The photo above was taken at the annual Wings for Kids charity event, which showcases historic model RC airplanes in a dazzling performance. If you or your children love flying RC airplanes or drones, E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park is the perfect place to visit.
There are so many indoor and outdoor sports courts.
You'll find an activities center with a gymnasium that has indoor courts for badminton, basketball, and volleyball, as well as 12 outdoor tennis court, 14 soccer fields, and 3 lighted softball fields. If you love playing any of the sports above, E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park is the best best for finding a free spot to practice.
There are plenty of paths to walk on.
In addition to the mile-long nature trail found at here, there are many other walking paths if you are in need of a place to run, walk, or jog. The park covers an expensive 550 acres, so it's difficult to grow bored of exploring these grounds.
During the summer, a large spray-ground and pool is open for business.
This outdoor Olympic-sized pool, complete with a diving board and concession stand, is accessible for only $5 per person during the summer season. The new splash pad (pictured above) is a blast for smaller children.
Practice your archery skills.
Kids ages seven and up can learn how to shoot a bow and arrow in one of the indoor gymnasiums. There are programs for both beginner and expert archers. For a list of archery activities and events,
