Korean Fusion at its finest! Whether you go for the epic tacos or the out-of-this-world pan fried dumplings, you won’t walk away from a meal at The Traveling Kitchen disappointed. If you are a fan of spicy food, try their fantastic kimchi! Three mix-and-match tacos are only $8 and they definitely don’t skimp on size. When a business describes themselves as "a traveling doughnut bar specializing in Hand-Cut Gourmet Doughnuts," there is absolutely no way we could possibly ignore such a magical place. Hi-Five Doughnuts definitely delivers. You can customize your own perfect doughnuts with any toppings of your choice, but we’re not just talking about regular old glazes and sprinkles… we’re talking full-on gourmet creations that will leave you in the happiest food coma of your life. The Bourbon Caramel and Cinnamon Bacon are definitely standout stars. If you are in a rush, they do have ready-made options, as the customized ones take a little bit of extra time to assemble, and if you want something a little more substantial than a doughnut, they also have breakfast doughnut sandwiches and the KY Fried Buttermilk Chicken sandwich. If you are prepared for the most cavity-inducing challenge of your life, check out the Widoughmaker.

You don’t need a fancy sushi bar to have incredible, fresh sushi! Don’t be skeptical about sushi served out of a truck… these rolls are the real deal. The Louisville Sushi Truck has unbelievably fresh seafood and well-prepared rolls that are absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. The Derby Roll is definitely a favorite (it has cucumber, avocado, fried shrimp, and crab flakes with eel sauce), as is the Crunch Munch (spicy crab, ebi shrimp, and spicy mayo with eel sauce).

When you think of Southern comfort food, you probably don’t think of vegan food, but believe it or not, V-Grits serves up some pretty darn delicious soul food dishes that prove that you don’t need to sacrifice flavor for healthy meals! Owner and chef Kristina J. Addington stirred up the attention of foodies everywhere when she became the first vegan chef to win the cooking competition "Cutthroat Kitchen" on Food Network, and she has earned every ounce of her respect by working to develop the availability and appeal of vegan meals in Louisville. During the winter months, V-Grits operates as vegan meal delivery service, but we can’t wait for her cheery orange truck to reappear this spring!

This traveling taqueria is awesome! We love to see Holy Molé’s bright green truck pull up, because these tacos seriously can’t be beat. It’s hard to choose a favorite… the chorizo is delicious, the pulled pork is heavenly, and the fish tacos are fried fresh. We typically go for meat-filled tacos, but you might be surprised by how tasty the kimchi tofu tacos are! They also have gluten-free options, so there is truly something for everything at Holy Molé. Service is quick, portions are large, and three tacos cost just $9, so you won’t break your budget on an excellent, filling meal!

Lobster from a food truck? Yes, it’s real… and it’s delicious. Longshot Lobsta serves up some incredibly tasty, fresh lobster dishes that you definitely won’t forget anytime soon. They are famous for their Lobster Rolls, but we think their amazing Lobster Bisque deserves some recognition too... and those cheddar biscuits are downright heavenly. It’s not the cheapest truck in town, but you pay for what you get, and at Longshot Lobsta, you get a quality meal that is still cheaper than a similar meal in a brick-and-mortar restaurant.

It’s hard not to love a good ol’ grilled cheese sandwich and Lil Cheezers serves up some of the best in town. Whether you are looking for a simple classic or try a unique creation, this is the perfect spot when you just need delicious comfort food. This tasty "cheesemobile" offers tons of different options that you can dress up (like the Fancy Pants, which has brie, green apples, and walnuts) or keep it old school (with the Plain Jane). It’s hard to go wrong with anything on this menu (the Caprese is another favorite), which means you’ll definitely want to come back to try them all!

One word: YUM! Johnny’s Diner Car is delicious and always seems to hit the spot when you are in need of a solid sandwich. Johnny’s steak sandwiches are definitely a highlight, but there are many excellent options on the menu and the portions are generous - you will NOT leave hungry! Now, let’s talk about the fries… it’s almost impossible to put into words how dangerously delicious these little deep fried bites of pure joy are. You can order them several ways, ranging from simple sea salt seasoned fries to grilled onion and cheese covered morsels to a parmesan truffle oil masterpiece. You really just need to go taste them for yourself. Your taste buds will love you forever.

Booty’s is the hipster of Louisville food trucks: they were here WAY before it was cool. They’ve been in business since 1996, originally serving up hotdogs from a cart and progressing to a full-on food truck in 2012. With so much experience under their belt, you better believe that Booty’s food is top-notch. They have expanded beyond hot dogs - their menu now includes award-winning burgers and chili - and they have some great sandwiches and nachos (and excellent tater tots!)
