We love parks in Kentucky, and we also love being near the water, and of course everyone loves finding free things to do. If you combine all three, you have a trifecta of fun in the Bluegrass State. Many local parks are free to visit throughout the state, but not all are always full of fun and relaxation. Louisville Waterfront Park, right on the Ohio River, definitely fits that trifecta definition and is a favorite spot in our state’s largest city. You’ll always find something to do and see at this waterfront park in Kentucky, and if you’ve never experienced it, take a closer look.

You may need to pay for parking and also to attend an event, if that's why you're visiting. The park may be best known for its wide array of events from Waterfront Wednesdays, to boat shows, yoga, festivals, and much more. You can see the event calendar for the park here.
The park is open year round, but always keep an eye on it if the weather has been rough. With its position right on the river, Waterfront Park has seen its fair share of flooding.
And maybe that's why you'll often enjoy green grass and abundant trees within the park.
Rest on a swing or bench or watch the kids play on one of the playgrounds. There is also a water playground that is open seasonally and is free to attend.
Louisville Waterfront Park seems as if it's always been there, and is definitely a photogenic area of the city.
