There’s no shortage of amazing places to explore in Kentucky. Our outdoor recreation isn’t limited to state and national parks; we have entire towns devoted to the Great Outdoors! This is the magic of our Kentucky Trail Towns, 25 different Bluegrass ‘burbs full of biking, hiking, and kayaking trails and adventures. Livermore is the newest addition to the Kentucky Trail Towns, and it’s a place rife with opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Kentucky is an immensely beautiful place that's truly one big playground for outdoor enthusiasts.
Thousands of miles of trails and waterways criss-cross Kentucky, offering endless opportunities for weekend adventures and day trips alike. Along these trails, numerous communities have been designated as official Kentucky Trail Towns -- places where you can find supplies and guides, lodging, great meals, and a community of like-minded adventurers.
To be considered as a Kentucky Trail Town, the site must meet certain criteria, including a commitment to sharing their region's outdoor opportunities, culture, history, and stories to visitors. There were 24 designated Kentucky Trail Towns until recently, when the adorable locale of Livermore was added to this elite group.
The Livermore Bridge is like no other bridge in the world. Its resume is impressive: it's the only bridge that begins in one county (McLean), spans two rivers (Green and Rough), and crosses *another* county (Ohio) to end back in its county of origin (McLean).
Livermore is also a stone's throw from some of the most significant and iconic locations in the history of Bluegrass Music, including Bill Monroe’s home in Rosine and the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Owensboro.
Hailed as the state "where the outdoors and amenities meet," there's nowhere in the world like Kentucky. Our state's designated Trail Towns put adventure seekers near some of the best outdoor action in the country, all while staying close to the cities and towns where you'll find amazing hotels, restaurants, attractions, and entertainment.
