I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
Kentucky is a state that fully embraces lake life, with its 45 major lakes providing near-endless opportunities for aquatic recreation of all varieties. Boating, houseboating, swimming, and even water skiing, there’s nothing better than a day spent on one of the many beautiful lakes in Kentucky. For anglers, Cave Run Lake is a celebrated treasure. This little-known lake boasts some of the best muskie fishing not only in Kentucky, but the entire South.
Cave Run Lake is a beautiful body of water situated in the Daniel Boone National Forest. Arguably one of the most picturesque lakes in Kentucky, you can visit for a day trip excursion or camp for a long weekend away. If you’re a fan of being outdoors and in nature, Cave Run Lake is for you!
Maintained by the USDA Forest Service, this 8,270-acre lake provides flood protection and a clean water supply to area communities, as well as some of the best aquatic recreation in the region.
The lake is home to some 150 species of fish and is a known hot spot for muskie, one of the largest of all the freshwater fish. The eponymous Muskie Bend Fishing Site is one of the lake's best spots for this sought-after catch.
Of course, this hidden gem is also a glorious place for kayaking, with 12 different launch ramps. Some of the lake's recreation areas and boat ramps require the purchase of a fee pass; learn more on the Forest Services website.
Of course, if you're to into fishing and are more of a water watcher, you'll find Cave Run Lake an inspiring and beautiful place to simply enjoy. Whether you are looking forward to beaches, boating, camping, or hiking, nothing compares to a day spent at Cave Run Lake!
